Why the dive case matters

Water resistance on a camera is meant for rain, splashes and the pool surface. Pressure rises quickly as you go down, and salt water, sand and repeated dunking can push water past seals and buttons. A proper dive housing seals the whole camera, protects the lens from scratches on rocks and coral, and keeps the camera safe for repeated dives. Tips for clearer footage

Check the case seal is clean and free of hair or sand before every dive, then close it firmly. Do a quick dunk test in a sink or pool first. Stay close to your subject because water reduces colour and sharpness with distance. Shoot in daylight near the surface for the best colour, and rinse the case in fresh water after each salt water session. Treat the provided memory card as a backup and copy your footage off at the end of each day.
