Northern lights & cold-trip camera rental
Rent a camera for the northern lights, Antarctica and winter trips
Aurora and night skies need a low-light camera, a fast wide lens and a steady tripod. Rent a full-frame Sony kit for Iceland, Tromso, Lapland, Yellowknife, Hokkaido, Harbin or an Antarctica cruise, with spare batteries for the cold and multi-day rates for longer trips.

Fast and wide
An F1.4 to F2.8 wide lens on a full-frame body gathers enough light for aurora in a few seconds, without star trails.
Tripod required
Aurora exposures cannot be handheld. A carbon fibre travel tripod is light to fly with and steady in wind.
Cold drains batteries
Below freezing, batteries can lose much of their charge. Bring extras and keep spares in an inner pocket.
Avoid condensation
Before going indoors, seal the camera in its bag and let it warm up slowly so moisture doesn't form inside the lens.

Common questions
What camera should I rent for the northern lights?
A full-frame body like the Sony A7S III, A7 IV or A7R V with a fast wide lens such as the Sony 16-35mm F2.8 GM II or Sigma 24mm F1.4, on a sturdy tripod. Phones and slow kit lenses struggle with the long exposures aurora needs.
Do I need a tripod for aurora photos?
Yes. Aurora shots need exposures of a few seconds, which cannot be handheld. We rent carbon fibre travel tripods that are light enough to fly with.
Will batteries last in Iceland, Lapland or Antarctica?
Cold drains batteries fast. Bring extra batteries, keep spares in an inner pocket, and let the camera warm up slowly in a closed bag before going indoors to avoid condensation.
Can I rent for a 10 to 14 day trip?
Yes. Multi-day rates apply to longer trips. Tell us your dates on WhatsApp and we'll check availability.
When do I collect and return it?
You can collect on your start date, or early during our collection window the day before at no extra cost. Return on your end date, or during our return window the day after. A one-day rental covers your whole shoot day, and we'll confirm the exact times on WhatsApp.
