Camera rental on Carousell in Singapore: how to rent safely and who to trust

Looking for a camera rental on Carousell? Learn the risks of renting from casual listings, how to check a renter is really registered, and why Arkework Studio is one of the most trusted names on Carousell.

Why so many people search Carousell for camera rental

Carousell is often the first place Singaporeans look when they need a camera, lens, drone or phone for a weekend, a concert or a holiday. It is easy to search and prices look attractive. But not every listing is what it seems, and a bad rental can ruin a shoot you cannot redo.

The risks of renting from casual Carousell listings

Most problems come from listings run by individuals rather than real rental businesses. Here is what to watch for.

Accounts that claim to be a registered company but are not

Some sellers describe themselves as a studio, a production house or a registered business, but have no registration behind the name. If something goes wrong, there is no accountable company to deal with. Before you pay, ask for the business's UEN and check it on the ACRA BizFile website. A genuine business will happily share it.

Unclear deposits and refunds

Informal lenders sometimes ask for large cash or personal bank transfers as a deposit, with no written terms. Disputes over small marks or slow refunds are common when nothing was agreed upfront.

Gear that is not checked between rentals

A lens with fungus, a sensor full of dust or a battery that dies after twenty minutes is easy to miss when you collect in a hurry. A one-person lender also rarely has a spare if something fails.

Hidden extras

A cheap day rate can grow quickly once you are asked to pay extra for batteries, memory cards or a charger.

Limited ways to pay

Many casual lenders only accept cash or a personal PayNow transfer, which leaves you with little protection and no option to use a card.

How to check any Carousell rental before you pay

Search the business name and UEN on ACRA BizFile. Read reviews across more than one platform, such as Google and Carousell, and look at how long the account has been active. Ask exactly what is included: batteries, memory cards, charger, lens hood and caps. Ask for the rental terms in writing, including deposits, late returns and damage. Check which payment methods are accepted and whether you get a receipt.

Why Arkework Studio is one of the most trusted renters on Carousell

Arkework Studio started out renting on Carousell under the handle @arkework and has grown into one of the most reviewed camera rental names in Singapore, with 482 Google and Carousell reviews from photographers, filmmakers, concert-goers and tourists.

A real, ACRA-registered Singapore business

You are renting from an accountable registered company, not an anonymous account. Our rental terms are published on our website for anyone to read before booking.

Gear that is tested and complete

Every item is checked between rentals, and listings show exactly what comes in the box, so there are no surprise add-on charges for the essentials.

Many more ways to pay

Unlike most Carousell lenders, we accept PayNow, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Wise, Grab PayLater, ShopeePay and Shopee PayLater, plus popular overseas options such as UPI, QRPH, DuitNow, Touch 'n Go, QRIS, Kakao Pay, Naver Pay and Payco. That makes renting easy for locals and visitors alike. A processing fee applies to PayLater options.

A clear, refundable deposit

We use a refundable PayNow or Wise deposit, or a $0 card-on-file option, with the terms explained upfront.

Build your whole kit in one go

Add a camera, lenses, audio and lighting to one request list instead of messaging about each listing separately.

Faster replies on WhatsApp

See exactly what is included

Each listing shows what is in the box, plus recommended add-ons and compatible lenses.

Is it safe to rent a camera on Carousell?

It can be, if you rent from an established, registered business with a long review history and clear written terms. Check the UEN on ACRA BizFile, read reviews on more than one platform and confirm what is included before paying.
