Flying Scoot or Singapore Airlines With a Camera: Packing Bodies, Lenses and Power Banks in Your Carry-On
How to pack rented camera gear for a flight out of Changi: keep cameras and lithium batteries in the cabin, stay light, and choose compact kits that fit tight carry-on limits.
Why everything goes in the cabin
Airlines generally require spare lithium batteries and power banks to travel in the cabin. Cameras and lenses are also safer with you than in the hold. Pack them in the weather-resistant bag that comes with every Arkework camera set.
Choosing a light travel kit
Pocket cameras: Ricoh GR III or Sony ZV1 II weigh very little and slip into a jacket pocket. Fixed-lens favourite: the Fujifilm X100VI is compact and full of film looks. Full frame: a Sony A7C II with the Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 covers most of a trip with one lens. Action: a DJI Osmo Action 6 for beaches and hikes.
Battery tips at the airport
Tape or cap loose battery terminals, or keep spares in their cases. Keep power banks easy to reach in case security asks to see them. Note the capacity printed on each battery in case it is checked.
Before you leave Singapore
