What is a film recipe?
A film recipe is a saved group of Fujifilm settings (film simulation, grain, colour and tone) that copies the look of a classic film stock. Once it is loaded, every photo you take has that look. You do not need Lightroom or any editing app.
Which Fujifilm to rent for a street walk
Fujifilm X100VI: the classic pick. A fixed 23mm lens, quiet shutter and small body make it easy to carry all day and easy to shoot people and shopfronts without drawing attention. Fujifilm XT5 or XT50: dials on top for shutter speed and ISO, which makes them fun to learn on. Pair with the XF 23mm or XF 35mm F1.4 for street and food shots. Fujifilm XE5 or XM5: lighter, flatter bodies for travel and casual walks. The XM5 is the smallest and suits first-time renters. Fujifilm X Half: a playful vertical-format camera that feels like a half-frame film camera. Good for social posts and photo diaries.
Three walks to try
Joo Chiat and Katong: pastel Peranakan shophouses on Koon Seng Road look great with warm, soft colour recipes. Go in the late afternoon for gentle light. Chinatown: red lanterns, temples and hawker stalls suit punchy, high-contrast colour recipes. Evenings work well once the lights come on. Tiong Bahru: Art Deco blocks and quiet cafes suit muted or black and white recipes. Mornings are calm and less crowded.
Tips for a better street walk
Shoot JPEG with your recipe instead of RAW, so photos are ready to share. Use a fixed lens such as 23mm or 35mm. It makes you move your feet and frame more carefully. Ask before photographing people up close, and be respectful inside temples. Carry the spare battery we include. Fujifilm cameras use power quickly when the screen is on all day.
